| I look at it like this, we already know that it will make 300+ HP at the crank, so hoping that they achieved this with restrictive breathing is a good thing.

| I agree. I've been looking at it the same way. If it's pushing 300hp with restrictive intakes and exhaust, imagine what you'll unleash with aftermarket parts.

It's not that we are all hoping that the Genesis is an underperformer...that's not it at all. We are just hoping that the stock bhp numbers were achieved with a restricted intake and exhaust system (among other things). If the Genesis is making 310bhp stock with these restrictions, then it will/should be a monster when everything gets opened up to allow more airflow. The Tiburon was like this (netting around 20whp just from I/E alone), so hopefully the Genesis will follow suit. |

| Exactly. Look at what was said about the G35 and 350Z...you get and aftermarket exhaust and.....nothing...no gain. You justr spent $500+ on an exhaust with no gain. So yeah. hoping the power its achieving is due to a restricted exghaust, intake...then simple bolt ons such as I/H/E will yeild a larger HP gain. Im hoping for the same with the 2T. Some ECU tunning intake and exhaust...Im hoping for about 250-265 whp on the stock turbo (assuming its as large as a 16G more hp if its bigger.)
Also here are some dyno number for a stock 2T and V6 Gen. Coupe: 2.0T Dyno Test - GenCoupe.com Forums |

| I seem to remember hearing its a pretty small turbo for their lack of lag, and early/platform like delivery of torque. Still, stock turbo with proper ecu tunning alone (boost/timing/fuel) would easily be capable of 265whp. Last time I checked the Mitsu evo's 2.0L that is directly related to this engine is making 291hp.
Hyundai has stated that while in development, they had to lower the power of the 2.0L so there would be a reason for the V6. Also, as pointed out in the link, if its in the 190hp range the drivetrain loss is only 10%, and thats assuming the premium fuel 223hp.
Unless Hyundai did some space-age enginering, 10% drivetrain loss in a rwd car is ultra impressive. More likely they are closer to 15-18% loss, and really 235-240 crank bhp. If thats true 300whp is going to be even easier than I thought. |

I know my version will not be a sleeper, but I don't want it turning every cops head as I pass by if it can be helped. My bimmer on the other hand is more of a sleeper, hell you can't even see the exaust because they turn down behind the bumper. I've ordered factory styled front air dam, rear lip spoiler, & front dive planes, all of which are to be painted to match. Also ordered front & rear strut tower braces & AEF filter. Next week installing Magnoflow mufflers, then taking to tuning shop for chip & tuning. But the car will still retain close to factory sound & looks. Let you know how it turns out. |
