Default Gear ratios

So someone posted the gear ratios over at http://newtiburon.com/forums/showthread.php?p=2540157

Based on these figures, the I4 has a theoretical top speed of 160mph, and the V6 of 190mph. Now I am not saying they will do these speeds, but the gears in the box are capable of these speeds, with much more HP. I did this using 6500rpm as the rev limit, and for tire diamter I guessed with 245/45/19s (25.7").

wonder what the final drive will be then, my guess is around a 3.82ish, put in like a 3.90-4.00 will help alittle with accel in the 1/4. I'm not tryin to do 160 ever in a car, on a bike maybe but not a car we as america have the worst roads ever, not to mention in stock form I doubt this thing would be stable at all, maybe 120ish would be the fastest this thing would see. Sorry for the rant but just my 2 cents.

Final Drives are:

2.0T 6spd man: 3.909
2.0T 5spd Auto: 4.181

3.8 6spd man: 3.538
3.8 6spd auro: 3.727

120mph would be stable no problems, its not really that fast in the scheme of things. Heck my old Neon did 135mph, and it was more that stabe (this was done on the Chicago Motor Speedway a 1.029mile oval that has been recently shutdown)

While this car is not desogned to challange the veyron, it should still be decently stable well up to its 140ish top speed (when drag is figured in for 2.0T), and I am sure the v6 will be able to 150+.

Even the RD tibs are pretty stable at 120-130, so the BK should be fine at that speed and I'm willing to wager that you couldnt get this thing to a speed that it couldnt handle (given all the gearing is stock) seeing as the suspension is good and the car isn't a lightweight.

with enough HP the stock I4 would be able to reach 160mph, and the V6 nearly 190mph. becuase of aerodrag you would need considerably more HP than stock.

I think with the Veyron they found it could hit 200mph with 600hp, but it takes another 400hp to get the last 50mph!!

Yah, i remember that from topgear.

Top speed is a little overrated to me, you shouldnt be going that fast unless your on a track that requires you to reach those kinds of speeds to compete.

I'll most likely get some gears to help my acceleration, i don't care much about top speed at all as long as i don't run out of gear at the 1/4 mile, and that sure aint gonna happen to me.

I agree about keeping those kinda speeds on the track, and am also not overly concerned with top speed, however a taller 6th gear would be nice to really let the car idle along on the highway. If you need to pass you have 5 other gears to downshift into!

I would prefer a car with shorter gears to improve 1/4 times than having a car that has longer gears going 140...no point to me...even if my top speed was 90 I'll be happy cause prolly my gears would be quick ebough to get me 0-60 in 4 sec.

Heh heh prolly not even that but youy see my point. (I hope)

I just really want a taller 6th gear. Not for top speed but for highway cruising MPG and the lower RPM + less noise on long trips.

The corvette gets 30mpg highway cause its 6th gear is .50! That means 60mph = 1200rpm..its idling along at 60!
