| GPS With hyundai starting to offer GPS in some of its cars do you think there is a chance they would offer it on the Gen. Coupe?
If they did offer it would anyone be interested in it? |

| Re: GPS They've already got that display in the dash, wouldn't be too hard to replace it with an actual LCD. If they wanted to give it a neat touch, give it the telemetry display like the new Nissan GT-R...... all the hardware is already in cars nowadays with all the crash sensors and emissions monitoring.... all it would need is some low level programming to get it all displayed. Things like g-forces, boost, actual temperature and oil pressure displays, etc |

| Re: GPS I'm personally against the integrated GPS in vehicles. I'd rather pay $300 for a bad arse GPS that I can update, replace, and hand select to my liking. If you follow news reports, there are huge things in the works for GPS, and I just don't want TWO systems in my car 3 years later when the in-car GPS is out of date and won't perform the functions any $100 GPS will.
I'd rather buy one and stick it in the car.

I've read that most experts suggest you skip the overpriced manufacturer GPS and just buy a standalone model.
What manufacturer GPS's need to do is have a very update-able software program that can adapt to extreme advances in GPS technology with a quick download, now they have it so you can download updated maps but nothing to keep you from feeling like you need a new model.

| Re: GPS well with XM in the car, you could have the integrated real time traffic like Acura has.
I am sure the handheld GPS units will eventually allow for this, but I know that My friends 08 Sebring hardtop convertible has Sirius version of realtime traffic with the myGiG system and its brilliant. Especially since I live in Chicago and traffic is nearly always terrible, it tells you what streets to avoid and aprox speeds being traveled on surrounding roads. |

| Re: GPS Also - have you guys taken a look at Google's Street View? They just put it in for Nashville, and dang, it's accurate!! Won't be long 'til all GPS have the same thing... you'll be able to see what's 2 miles down the road before you get there. It's freakin' sweet... and the pics are all less than a year old, some within the last few months

| Re: GPS so is car based GPS dead? Should manufacturers be making "dockable" systems from the factory, kinda like they have for Ipods?
I like the idea of an in car system in that its not on top of the dash, and there are no exposed wires. But if Car manufactures hooked up with companies like garmin, or who ever, and just have a dock in the dash, that would really be awesome. |
