Default Hyundai V6 Lambda RS3800 (New Engine for Coupe)

Hyundai announced today the introduction of the new Hyundai V6 Lambda RS high-performance engine. The Hyundai V6 Lambda RS will equip at first the Genesis Coupe and will come with a choice between two transmissions: a 6-speed automatic or a 6-speed manual.

The Hyundai V6 Lambda RS engine is based on the 2003 Lambda and features a number of modifications that take the power up to 310 PS at 6300rpm and 36.8kg/m of torque at 4700rpm.

To be able to fir the new Hyundai V6 Lambda RS engine under the hood of the Genesis Coupe the engineers had to trim 5 cm off the top of the standard unit. This led to a re-design of the intake and exhaust systems.
The exhaust manifold’s length and cross section were optimized for reduced resistance which maximizes high speed performance and yields a pleasingly sporty exhaust note. At the same time, the diameter of the intake port in the ETC (Electronic Throttle Control) module was enlarged to improve engine breathing.

Attention was also paid to stiffening the aluminum engine block so it could endure higher stresses while a piston cooling jet was added under each cylinder to reduce thermal loading and prevent heat
damage. A further boost in performance was attained by adopting more aggressive camshaft profiles on the Continuously Variable Valve Timing system which governs both the intake and exhaust valves.

It sounds like they know people will want to apply boost.... Piston jets stock FTW!

I wonder if it will be nice and blingin like that in the real world.

Hyundai continues to impress with me with just how detail oriented they have become. Their level of engineering has truely matched if not surpased most of major manufacturers.

The oil jets under the piston is a clear sign that this engine was designed with a S/C in mind. On an N/A engine that revs to no more than 7000rpm, the piston temps do not necesatate the oil sprayers. Oil sprayers are mainly used on boosted or high rpm engines to cool the underside of the piston with engine oil.

Even if hyundai eventually releases a factory S/Ced v6 Gen. Coupe, which I would be surprised if they did, I have a lot of respect for hyundai actually sticking to their claims and delevering a sporty car with an eye towards the aftermarket.

Sounds like there isn't going to be much room to work with under the hood. But that hasn't stopped anybody before.

its kinda frustrating how they don't really go into any detail... but I can understand how the average consumer wouldn't understand anyways

The final deciding factor for me was when it was confirmed that Hyundai is coming out with a R-Spec lightweight track edition this fall, but only for the 4cyl. I'm waiting & will get this one in red.
