| | Novice Member | Sports Teams? Ok, so lets do this without getting into "my team's better than your team" Just a simple "this is my team" and why you chose them, will do just fine.
Me:
Baseball:
Yankees, because im from NY.
Football:
Cowboys, because my brother was a huge fan and i grew up idolizing him. (Syracuse Orange for college but they stink lately)
Basketball:
No pro team for me, but Syracuse Orange for college cuz thats my local city!
Hockey:
wtf is hockey?? haha!
Did i miss anything?

| Re: Sports Teams? I don't have any real favorites- but here are my thoughts on sports in general...
Baseball: WOW this sport is boring... I went to a game once (company outing) and if I didn't have the crappy games on my cell phone, I would have killed something just out of boredom...
Football: WOW this sport is boring (the pro series anyways)- they spend 5 hours making "plays" which all end up the same way- then they play for 4 seconds...
Soccer: THIS is a sport I can respect- all of the players work hard all the time, it is hard and fun, but since americans are too dumb to acknowledge it- we can't get any decent coverage of any decent games...
Hockey: Another sport I can respect- but alas, I do not have enough face time with the game to figure out a favorite..
Rugby: One more sport I can respect, the players are at least not protected with a bunch of pansy armoring...
Basketball: This sport is amongst the better of "american" sports- the players are in constant state of motion and really work at the game..
womens volleyball: mmmmm.... ;D

| Re: Sports Teams? Season ticket holder for DA BEARS!
Used to like the bulls, but damn they are terrible now (sad that they will probably still make the playoffs this year)
Baseball is tough for me, its hard not to love a day at wrigley, but its gotten so expensive and the Sox are so darn cheap (1/2 price monday, buy one get one free tuesday, $1 hot dog Wednesday's) its too hard to pass a sox game so as long as one does well I will be happy.
Hockey I don't care much for, but I always want to see blackhawcks representing for Chi-town |

You don't appreciate all the things that are going on when you dont know whats going on.
Soccer, to me, is a big snoozer. The players all kick the ball back and forth, pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, steal, pass, pass, out of bounds. this all over the course of 20 minutes, what an interesting dialog for the sportscasters.
If your lucky, you get 3 scores a game, and 10 near goals. If your team loses, hell with the other team, just riot. Sign of maturity right there.
What i like about baseball and football, is even if there is no scoring, you can still quantify the quality of the match up in comparing hits, strikeouts, balls/strikes, walks, etc (baseball) or for football, Rushing yards, passing yards, turnovers, field position, tackles, sacks. Even when the score is still 0-0, you can see who is playing better.
You got soccer, even if your team pass, pass, passes the ball somewhere near the goal and ended up losing the ball; you don't have anything to show for that 5 minute drive. just a missed opportunity.
*And on a side note, being an American, who isn't particularly dumb, forgive me if i take the slightest bit of offense to that last comment. Just because the majority population of a country of 300 million people decides not to embrace your particular past-time doesn't mean that your sport is necessarily the least bit more refined or intelligent. Just because your not familiar with it doesn't mean the people who enjoy it are stupid. A generalization of that magnitude makes you assuredly obdurate and yes makes you look quite "dumb".
:-D

| Re: Sports Teams? see- I understand how someone can be appreciative of the sports that you mentioned mr alex...
but where I differ in my views is the "smartness" of americans...
this is going a little off topic- so please forgive me... but I do not think that anyone can argue that "mainstream" americans are very smart people...
now- back to on topic...
horray volleyball!!

| Re: Sports Teams? Baseball:
L.A. Dodgers - grew up with season tickets, love the game, and my grandfather worked for them so I spent a lot of time at the stadium ;D
Football:
UT Vols - College is more fun to follow than pro. I like 'em cuz I live in Tennessee and it's hard to live here and NOT like 'em... and I spent a few years in school there.
Basketball:
Vanderbilt Mens, Univ. of Tenn. Lady Vols - Went to UT, and my wife works at Vanderbilt. Makes it an easy choice
Hockey:
Nashville Predators, yeah we suck, but hockey's cool to watch. Hometown support
